Zada Enterprises, LLC Florida Dressage Classic Wrap-up,

The second week of dressage at the Winter Equestrian Festival, the Zada Enterprises, LLC Florida Dressage Classic, concluded yesterday.
The first day of the 2007 Zada Florida Dressage Classic kicked off with a win by Lauren Sammis and Sagacious HF in the first section of the FEI Prix St. Georges $1,000 class.
In Section B of the Prix St. Georges division, Melissa Taylor and her own Schumaker earned a 67.250 percent for the win. Schumaker is a 16. 3 hand 13-year-old Danish gelding by Schwadroneur out of Patricia Solyst by Ragtime. Melissa Jackson and the chestnut Wellington 248 finished second with a 66.00 percent, and Canadian Simone Williams and Wunder Ein rounded out the top three with a 65.667.
Denielle Gallagher, who is a student and assistant trainer for Canadas Ashley Holzer, was also successful today, earning first place in the Intermediaire II test with a 65.854 percent. Gallagher rode Gallaways Abrikos to the victory.
The second week of dressage competition at the 2007 Zada Florida Dressage Classic saw the return of Lars Petersen and the great gray Dacardo to the winners circle. The pair scored a 72.083 percent for the win in the FEI Intermediaire I class, section A. Petersen, a native of Denmark, has been paired with Dacardo for about three years, and the horse is owned by Melissa Taylor, who trains with Petersen.
Taking second in the II test was Melissa Jackson and Wellington 248 with a 68.917 percent, and they also placed second on Thursday in the Prix St. Georges test. Third place was earned by Oded Shimoni and Wasmut with a 66.000 percent.
In section B of the Intermediaire I, Lauren Sammis and Sagacious HF repeated their performance from Thursday, again earning the blue ribbon. With a score of 70.750 percent, the pair further solidified their status as a combination to watch in the future. Earning second place was Melissa Taylor and her own Schumaker with a 69.176 percent. Taylor was also victorious in the FEI Grand Prix division on Succes with a 66.319 percent.
Rounding out the top three placings in the II divison, section B, was Simone Williams and Wunder Ein with a 67.000 percent.
Competition in the third day of the Zada Florida Dressage Classic heated up with a closely contested FEI Test of Choice division, where riders choose which test they will perform.
Earning the blue ribbon in the class was Marie Pettersson on Ommen with a 66.000 percent. The pair rode third to last and triumphed over Ed Borrensen and Beemer, who held the lead for most of the afternoon with a 64.417 percent and ended the day in third place. The second place position went to Lynda Alicki and Nick who rode a competent test and were awarded a 65.833 percent.
In the FEI Grand Prix Special, the original class of five entries dwindled to two on account of scratches, but Tami Crawford and Markant put in a fluid test to be awarded a 62.533 percent, which earned them first place. Nancy Later and Alexis-D, a bay Oldenburg mare, were second with a 60.667 percent.
The final day of the Zada Florida Dressage Classic concluded with a rousing display of dressage freestyles set to exuberant music. George Williams and Marnix danced their way to the blue ribbon in the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle.
Earning a 71.750 percent, Williams said that the test was one of the best rides he and Marnix have had in competition. Williams has been partnered for about seven years with Marnix, who is a 13-year-old 17.2 hand Dutch bay gelding by Hinault out of Ecolien.
Second place in the Grand Prix Freestyle went to Tina Irwin and Amicelli with a 68.583 percent, while Dorothy Morkis and Mister Big rounded out the top three with a 66.917 percent. In the FEI Intermediaire Freestyle, it was Canadas Simone Williams who brought home the blue ribbon with a 68.08 percent on her own Wunder Ein, a 9-year-old Hanoverian gelding.
