Florida's Horse Industry

The State of Florida has more than 500,000 horses and more than 60% are used for competition and recreation, ranking #3 in the US (as per 2005 National Horse Council Study ).

Florida is home to almost all breeds of horses, led by Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Quarter Horses and Arabians. Florida's equine champions are known all over the world.

The Florida horse industry annually generates product valued at $3 Billion, and has a total annual economic impact estimated at around $5.1 Billion.

Over 440,000 Floridians are involved in the horse industry as owners, service providers, employees and volunteers. Even more participate as spectators. There are over 900 horse farms in Florida with over 104,000 employees.

Florida horsemen spend more than $1.2 Billion in annual maintenance costs, including $185 million on feed and hay. (1996 Study Dept. of Agriculture)

Dorie Addy-Crow rode Conrad to a 73.429% in the USEF Fourth Level Open. Sabine Schut-Kery and Sanceo won with a score of 82.763% in FEI Prix St. Georges. Catherine Malone won the Adult Amateur FEI Prix St. Georges with Uno Diego with a score of 73.026%. Lars Petersen and Willano scoring 71.300% for the win in the FEI Grand Prix Open class
Kyle McIver rode Chocolate Chunk, to the top of the USEF Training Level 2 Adult Amateur Test with a 71.786%. Lisa Giltner and Lorelei scored a 73.000% in the USEF Training Level 3 Open test. Sean Sierra Keasler and her own De Lorean MF rode to a 74.839% in the USEF Fourth Level Test for Junior and Young Riders.
